That means it’s very important to keep an eye on the trends that have been going on mobiles because it can affect any part of this digital world.

Talking about trends, some trends come and go and some become a staple. This article was written keeping the top trends in mind which is being followed in designing mobile in 2018. Let’s review them together!

1.  Time-saving design

This is one of the most important trends in designing mobile. When a person is buying a mobile they measure its success by measuring how much time it takes to get a task done. Users often want something that will be able to help them reach their goal as fast as possible. The following feature helps a designer in minimizing the effort a user needs to get a work done

2.  Simple user journey

It is really annoying when a mobile app requires you to complete a lot of steps before getting a task done. Mobile designs are all about speed and simplicity because even an uneducated man needs to use a mobile phone and if it’s not simple enough to use it is not going to get a good sell. The main motive is to give the users a step by step to follow and reducing the steps as much as possible

3.  Linear user journey

A linear user journey is a journey where the user gets to interact with the system in a limited way. Normally you can take only one specific action at each step of this journey. A well-designed linear flow is predictability meaning each step of this journey is logically connected and the user knows which step will come after a certain step. This helps to both reduce the anxiety and time

4.  Failure assistance guidance

Most of the times the designers fail to build a perfect system at first. They fail and they basically learn from their mistakes and builds an assistant design which will help the users to overcome a problem. Brilliant! Isn’t it?

5.  Progressive disclosure

Updated mobile phone apps have features that are a lot more complicated and provides a huge amount of information. This much complexity can easily overwhelm and confuse a user. To overcome this problem designers, use a technique named “progressive disclosure” which provides information only when the user asks for it. This helps to reduce cognitive load.

6.  Location service

Now a day the designers keep in mind the fact of maximum simplicity. Turning on location on your phone will help someone to track you down. Picture this: You want to order something to eat and they are asking for your location and you are not sure about it. Then if you just turn on the location and confirm them this is the place you want to get a delivery. The product will reach to you in a short time. See this is very effortless and easy.

7.  Device capability and Brand specialty

Mobile phones are designed with a lot of built-in sensors as the user need it to perform different kinds of task for them. Camera, touch sensor, Bluetooth and location accuracy are some of them. Designers use a biometric-based technology which helps to minimize the steps required to log in to an app. Fingerprint touch and setting patterns are some ways to do so. This saves a lot of time and makes it easier for the user to interact with an app. There are many brands out there who are designing mobile and their designing efficiency and uniqueness is the key to make them stand out from the crowd of thousands. As a result, it is a must for the designers to do better and shows their creativity in the field of designing. Let’s talk about a few tools which help designers to make an app noticeable in the market.

8.  Typography and Animation

Typing a message is the most basic thing of a mobile. But the designers can play with this and give this a completely different look by changing the font colors, size etc to make an app unique. Well-designed high-quality animations are really popular. They are designed in an interesting way to interact with the users. Consumers get rewards when they achieve a certain goal. Let’s make it more easy for you to understand. In Snapchat you unlock a certain filter when you earn a certain amount of points. This works exactly in the same way!

9.  Gesture-based design

Recently the launch of iPhone X introduced the idea of being independent completely on gestures and voice interactions. The lack of a home button and any key button at all means the designers are now ready to step up their game and not waste their valuable time in making something physically interactive. Rather they want to fully focus on gestures at the moment.

10.  Gamification and Smart interaction

The process which makes the interaction with an app interesting is called gamification. Designers develop rewards, points and such to make it exciting and catchy. It is mainly about incorporating games into the non-game environment. Developers also develop emoticons and such to make human interaction with an app to seem more realistic.
