Instagram is an essential platform in Facebook’s social ecosystem, and an essential part of your businesses social strategy. With a long history of feature rich updates, Instagram is the perfect platform to connect with users on from a content-first approach. Here is what you need to do in order to setup an Instagram account for your business.
First and foremost, if you don’t yet have a Facebook page for your business, we highly recommend you do so as the 2 platforms can be connected. Doing so will greatly increase the features and results available to you and your business.
For a tutorial on how to setup a Facebook page for your business, read this:
Now that you have a facebook account for your business, it’s time to set up Instagram. Begin by going to Instagram.com/accounts/emailsignup
Once there, you will be greeted with this view, simply select “Log in with Facebook”. As you may expect, the next window will be a Facebook window.
Upon logging in with Facebook, Instagram will request access to your account permissions. Go ahead and accept that!
To finish setting up your account, be sure to select “Yes, finish setup” on the last window. If you sign up for Instagram using a phone number instead, it will not connect your FB Business page/account to your new Instagram account! This means you won’t get to take advantage of business specific features that we will be covering in the next section.
Congrats! You should now have an Instagram account. Follow the next couple prompts from the app to finish entering essential information.
