Text If you weren’t aware yet, using a wireless lav mic can save you hours of sound design in the post-production process. By using an audio source that is synced to your captured video files in real time, you won’t have to worry about matching up audio files when building out your timeline.
We recently invested into the RODE Link and couldn’t be happier. Easy to use, quick to setup, and crisp to the ears, we have used the wireless setup for a majority of our most recent shoots. In this blog, we will be taking you through the simple steps to setup and use your RODE Link Microphone!
Remove your microphone from the case, and check that you have all proper accessories. In this instance, we are using a pelican case. Required accessories for operation include
Microphone with jack
Microphone battery powered transmitter
Microphone battery powered receiver
3.5mm receiver jack
Insert 2 AA Batteries into both the receiver and the transmitter.
Connect the provided auxiliary cable to the reciever
Mount and connect the reciever to the camera
Remove the actual lav mic from the provided RODE pouch
Connect the mic to the transmitter
Adjust the gain based on your use case.
Power on the reciever and ensure it is on the same channel as the transmitter. You’re done!
Clip the mic onto the collar of the subjects shirt for the best results.
